apature 2007: featured artist
APAture 2007 Graphic Design and Illustration by Thien Pham Goh Nakamura: Music
Goh Nakamura is a SF Bay Area based musician who likes to write
ditties about parking tickets, impossible crushes and faraway
dreamlands (amongst other things). Accompanying himself with digital
samplers and an acoustic guitar, his live solo shows are always unique
and often unpredictable.
Goh has contributed his guitar and vocal work to the Ridley Scott films "A Good Year" and "American Gangster". Most recently, his song "Daylight Savings" was chosen to be included on the soundtrack to the upcoming film "Feast of Love" starring Morgan Freeman and Greg Kinnear. ARTIST STATEMENT I grew up listening to the music of the Beatles, Motown and Chopin. I
guess I'm trying to recapture a fraction of that magical feeling I got
when I first heard that stuff. There's nothing really "asian" or "asian american" about my music, other than my name. I'm hoping I can
make an impact somehow, on someone at the right time.Photo credit: Jay Jao, Jay Jao For more information, please visit www.gohnakamura.com. Goh Nakamura will be performing on Friday, September 21st, 7pm, at The Make-Out Room. Above: Goh Nakamura (Photo courtesy of the artist's website) » Next Artist: Lark Pien |
