KSW is hiring a Managing Director!
Kearny Street Workshop is looking for a dynamic, community-minded arts administrator to guide the oldest multi-disciplinary Asian Pacific American arts organization in the country. You can have the opportunity to help write the next chapter of this long-time San Francisco institution that has been proudly serving APA communities in this city since the early 70s.
The Managing Director will lead organizational development and direct the day-to-day operations within the framework of policy and authority established by our Board of Directors (the “Board”). As a co-director, you will manage the administrative responsibilities of the organization as well as fundraising and community outreach efforts. Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and grants management is needed. Experience in accounting is a plus.
Managing Director (28 hours/week) | Reports to: Board of Directors
Upkeep of all insurance policies, D&O, worker’s comp, property and liability insurance
Pick up mail weekly, check voicemail daily
Maintenance of office equipment including backing up the computer and organizing Google Docs and replenish office supplies
Work with the board on negotiating the office lease
Maintains donor and customer relations management database
Oversees organization’s internship programs
Assist the Artistic Director with the planning and implementation of the annual calendar of events
Oversees the financial management of the organization
Works with and maintains communication with bookkeeper to ensure all activity is properly recorded on financials
Oversees the completion of monthly bank reconciliations by the bookkeeper
Generates checks for vendors, process payments and donations including transfers from PayPal and Brown Paper Tickets or other third party payment systems
Organize proper financial records on Google Drive
Collaborates with the Artistic Director and the Board to create annual budget prior to the start of the fiscal year; manage project budgets and annual organizational budget. Ensures budget uploaded properly to Quickbooks
Produces financial reports to present to the Board of Directors
Maintains cash flow tool on Google Drive
Oversees income tax filings including 1099 and 990
Maintains or requests temporary permits and registration as needed such as KSW’s Business Tax Registration, seller’s permit, alcohol license, etc.
Researches, submits, obtains, and manages grants to support programs, general operating expenses, and special projects; tracks funds, writes, reports and updates
Develops and implements a fund development plan that includes individual donor cultivation, earned income strategies, and contributed income
Maintains a grant calendar and grant writing resources (such as staff and board bios)
Prepares the Cultural Data Project report and notes (with programmatic and volunteer information support from the Artistic Director)
Maintain relationships with funders and act as the primary representative for the organization to funders
Organizes annual fundraisers, special event fundraisers, and mid-year and year-end individual donor campaigns (including donor database maintenance and thank you letters)
LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Serve as an effective advocate for KSW and our community
In collaboration with the Artistic Director, develop cross-promotional relationships with peer organizations
In collaboration with the Artistic Director, develop and implement strategies to increase engagement among traditionally underrepresented community members (by geography, socio-economic status, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual identity, etc.)
Coordinate and hire non-programmatic volunteers to support office administration.
Assist in identifying and recruiting new Board members, whose talents, backgrounds, commitment, and fundraising abilities are congruent with the needs and mission of KSW
