This program is a hybrid seminar, professional practices, and cultural organizing intensive and is intended to develop and mentor APA visual artists looking to deepen their praxis in and with community, rooted in KSW’s organizational praxis of Solidarity, Renewal, Futurity, and Autonomy.

  • Facilitated through community responsive, healing justice, and emergent lenses in order to not only equip artists to navigate institutions, but to also cultivate community spaces

  • Professional development and community building that examines and decolonizes our relations to land and community with 9 weeks of workshops including:

    • Artist statement + bio writing

    • Grant writing & residency applications

    • Career planning/goal setting

    • Introduction to exhibition planning

    • Guest lectures

    • Selected artists participate in project-based learning through developing the programming and marketing of an exhibition of their own works, curated by mentor Kim Acebo Arteche

  • A retreat planned around deepening our relationship to land, body, and spirit is set to close out the program for the cohort.
