Around the Community
Ta H.I.T.A. is a two-day immersive workshop that introduces participants to CHamoru language, culture, and traditions. Learn the CHamoru alphabet, greetings, common phrases, and cultural values like Inafa’maolek. Explore Bailan CHamoru (dance) and Lalai (chant), and reflect on your experience through collaborative sharing. This program fosters a deeper connection to CHamoru heritage through language, art, and community.
Pasifika Moves is a community-building event intended for Pacific Islander individuals, families, and youth who are looking to connect to other Islanders in the Bay Area on gentle (but fun!) walks and strolls in safe, outdoor locations in San Francisco. This is a beginner friendly event. No equipment is necessary. Kids and pets are welcome. Scooters, roller skates, and kids’ bikes are all good!
What does Southeast Asian solidarity mean to you? Join DVAN as they explore this theme at their autumn reading event, as part of their quarterly reading series in partnership with the SF Public Library.
