Interdisciplinary Writers Lab 2024 Chapbook Launch Party
Free + open to all, light refreshments provided!
Join us for the official launch of A World, Undisciplined, a chapbook by the Interdisciplinary Writers Lab (IWL) 2024 cohort!
Celebrate the close of another vibrant IWL cycle with an evening of readings, conversation, and community.
Guided by this year’s stellar teaching artists—mimi tempestt (poetry), K-Ming Chang (fiction), and Jenny Odell (nonfiction)—our cohort of rising voices spent the summer worldbuilding across genre, form, and discipline. The resulting chapbook explores themes of birth, life, and death—and the entangled personal, political, and planetary narratives that hold them. Think: diasporic longing, poetic glitch, queer kinship, haunted kitchens, apocalyptic malls, and speculative reckonings with memory and land.
The evening will feature live readings from contributing writers, special guest appearances, and copies of the chapbook available for purchase. Come hear fresh work, connect with new and old friends over treats, and celebrate the latest generation of KSW writers!
Contributors include:
Amanda Andonian, Thomas Dunn, Nidhi Jaisoor, Christine C. Hsu, Jessica Dai, Asha Nidumolu, Julie Fukunaga, Matthew Choi, Zara Jamshed, Kat Lin, Christine Mi, Trinh Lê, Asha Nidumolu, and Tracy Jones.
This chapbook is a tribute to collective imagination, to undisciplining as a creative and political practice, and to the worlds we carry within us.
Free and open to the public—come early, stay late (after-party at Azucar Lounge!), help us celebrate!
