Interdisciplinary Writers Lab 2025 Chapbook Launch

Join us for the official launch of Channel, a chapbook by the Interdisciplinary Writers Lab (IWL) 2025 cohort!

This year’s instructors—erica lewis (poetry), Meng Jin (fiction), and Amanda Machado (nonfiction)—guided our cohort of 15 writers through three months of classes as they explored different genres of writing to expand and strengthen their writing practice

The evening will feature live readings from contributing writers and copies of the chapbook available for purchase!

Please note seating is limited, with standing room available. Please email info@kearnystreet.org for questions, concerns, or access needs.

About Channel

We chose Channel as our chapbook theme because it holds the core of what we explored together as a cohort. To channel is to act as a medium—to draw from art, music, memory, objects, land, and lineage, letting them move through our writing. A channel is also a body of water, flowing and connecting, echoing our questions about how art, life, ancestry, and nature intertwine beyond linear forms. And to channel is to direct energy with intention—toward action, agitation, and the belief that writing can contribute to Toni Cade Bambera’s idea that “the role of the artist is to make the revolution irresistible”.
