Around the Community: Affirming Life Book Talk with Jason Bayani and Kazu Haga

On Waverly welcomes poet and KSW’s Co-Executive Director, Jason Bayani and activist-author Kazu Haga for an evening of reading and conversation celebrating their newest books, Everyone I Love, Alive (Omnidawn Publishing, 2025) and Fierce Vulnerability (Parallax Press, 2025). The event will be held on Thursday, April 16th, from 5:30–6:30 PM. General tickets are free; a ticket and a signed book are $19.95.

Jason Bayani is the author of Everyone I Love, Alive (Omnidawn Publishing 2025), Locus (Omnidawn Publishing 2019) and Amulet (Write Bloody Publishing 2013). He's an MFA graduate from Saint Mary's College and is the co-director of Kearny Street Workshop, the oldest multi-disciplinary Asian Pacific American arts organization in the country. He performs regularly around the country and debuted his solo theater show "Locus of Control" in 2016 with theatrical runs in San Francisco, New York, and Austin.

Kazu Haga is a trainer and practitioner of nonviolence and restorative justice, a core member of Building Belonging and the Ahimsa Collective, and the author of Healing Resistance and Fierce Vulnerability. He works with incarcerated people, youth, and activists across the country, and is a resident of the Canticle Farm community on Lisjan Ohlone land in Oakland.
